Nouna

Denise Benarroch, known as Nouna**, is a French sculptor born in 1958. A graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts Modernes in Paris, she began her professional career in design, creative production and decoration for industrial and commercial environments. In the early 1990s, her desire to work directly with matter led her to devote herself fully to sculpture.

She joined sculptor Myriam Franck’s studio, where she explored a variety of modelling and representational approaches, before continuing her training at the École Boulle. She also collaborated with an agency specialising in the creation of artistic trophies while developing her own distinctive visual language.

Inspired by the human body, movement and the expressive power of form, Nouna creates figurative sculptures characterised by free, sensual and often refined lines. Her work explores femininity, freedom, love, peace and spirituality. Faces, silhouettes, lips and symbolic figures become vessels for universal emotions, combining inner strength with a sense of serenity.

The artist works primarily with bronze and resin, enhancing their surfaces with patinas and richly coloured pigments. By bringing together the timeless character of sculpture and a distinctly contemporary palette, she gives her works a unique and immediately recognisable presence. Colour is never merely decorative: it extends the movement of the sculpture, reveals its volumes and contributes fully to its emotional impact.

Denise Benarroch signs her creations with her middle name, Nouna, reflecting the intimate and personal nature of her artistic practice. Through each sculpture, she seeks to breathe life into matter and establish a sensitive, emotional dialogue with the viewer.
