Virginie Horens

Virginie Horens is a painter based in Perpignan, in the South of France. Her luminous figurative practice draws on the energy of the Mediterranean and reflects her distinctive passion for colour. Working primarily in oil on canvas and favouring large-scale formats, she creates dynamic compositions in which movement, contrast and the human figure take centre stage.
Her visual language lies at the crossroads of Fauvism and Pop Art. Bold colours, striking viewpoints and stylised silhouettes give her paintings an immediately recognisable identity. Across her different series, Horens explores female figures, divers, pin-ups and leisure scenes, while also drawing inspiration from comic books and iconic places such as Jane’s Carousel in Brooklyn.
In her series “Le Grand Bain”, bodies caught in the momentum of a dive become part of a vivid pictorial choreography. Suspended between sky and sea, past and present, her figures convey a compelling sense of freedom, vitality and the carefree atmosphere of Mediterranean summers.
Exhibited notably in Perpignan and at the Vue sur Cours gallery in Narbonne, Virginie Horens’s work invites collectors into a vibrant, joyful and distinctly contemporary world.
