ROLLER

In ROLLER, a vertical work measuring 116 × 81 cm, Virginie Horens creates a Pop-infused scene filled with freedom and carefree energy. A blonde roller skater dressed in green adopts a spectacular reclining pose: one leg stretches diagonally across the canvas, while her skates appear at opposite ends of the composition. This bold arrangement immediately gives the image its sense of movement and depth.

Broad areas of green, yellow, blue, red and purple intersect within a pictorial space deliberately freed from traditional perspective. Crisp white outlines connect the different forms, while oversized palm leaves and geometric motifs establish a sunny atmosphere with a distinctly 1970s flavour.

Balancing relaxation and energy, figuration and abstraction, ROLLER evokes leisure culture, physical freedom and the pleasure of movement. Its confident palette and dynamic composition give the work a joyful, instantly recognisable presence. It can become a vibrant focal point in a contemporary interior while also engaging naturally with more eclectic surroundings.
