Aphrodite

In this work by Davide Richetti, the figure of Aphrodite is reinterpreted through a distinctly contemporary visual language. Inspired by classical statuary, the goddess emerges gracefully from an abstract composition dominated by shades of pink, green, yellow, turquoise and orange.

The delicate rendering of the face and drapery interacts with broad areas of colour, layered passages and spontaneous painterly marks. Some parts of the body are precisely defined, while others seem to dissolve into the painted surface. This interplay between presence and disappearance gives the figure an almost dreamlike quality, as though she were gradually emerging from the colour itself.

By combining the serenity of classical imagery with the energy of contemporary abstraction, the artist creates a luminous and poetic work. Its pastel palette, punctuated by stronger contrasts, gives the piece a presence that is both gentle and immediately captivating.
