With SAMO, Maria de Campos pays tribute to the incandescent spirit of Jean-Michel Basquiat, a legendary figure of creative freedom and luminous chaos in the 1980s.
Here, the artist captures all the tension between rebellion and beauty, combining bursts of colour, urban collages and iconic symbols to compose a vibrant, almost incandescent portrait.
Beneath the layers of paint and graffiti, the subject's gaze pierces the surface: intense, lucid, inhabited by the fever of creation. Around him, the pop universe and the tumult of images recount the collision between street culture and sacred art, between raw spontaneity and pictorial refinement.
